When I first spoke with Ali and Eliot, I KNEW they were my kind of people. They were both smart, funny, and classy, with a little touch of spunk. When I talk about these two, I have to tell the story about the time I thought they were dumping me for another photographer. I received a text from an unknown number that read, “Don’t worry about it, we went with someone else. If you’d like to do some school events, there are plenty of opportunities.” I didn’t have any pending leads, so I wasn’t sure who would be turning me down at this time. When I asked who it was, and she said, “Ali,” my heart sunk to the floor. They didn’t like me? What went wrong? Are they going to ask for their retainer back? I was so confused!!! So I responded with, “Ok. So I’m no longer shooting your wedding?” This is when things got really confusing…
It turns out, she had an event that one of their photographers fell through, so she contacted me that morning to see if I could shoot it. I never received her missed call or voicemail, but she obviously thought I had. You can only imagine the relief I felt when I discovered that I’d still be shooting their wedding!! And I’m so glad I did, because it was stunning! Ali and Eliot chose to have their D.C. wedding at the brand new District Winery. This place is modern, elegant, rustic, and gorgeous! But nothing compared to Ali in that beautiful dress!
When I first started shooting weddings, I cried for maybe the first 3 first looks I ever had, then I kind of got used to it. But when Eliot saw Ali for the first time, it was waterworks for everyone, including me!! I don’t think there was a dry eye during their ceremony either. You both have something so so special, and I’m so grateful to have to been a part of it. Thank you so much, and congratulations to you both!!!
